‘Green Participatory Budgeting’ and its role in climate action

This is a joint, online, event with the Scottish Community Development Centre as part of the International, Green PB ‘Caravan’ which is visiting Scotland to share learning from Portugal, Spain and other places where participatory budgeting is enabling citizens to participate meaningfully in decision making to face up to the climate crisis. Participatory budgeting (PB) was created in Porto Alegre, a city of 1.3 million people in Brazil, in 1989. Since then, PB has expanded and become a major innovation in local decision-making and participation around the world.
