Super-networks making new human rights: the human right to a healthy environment

October 13, 2022 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm

This lecture will discuss how the Right to a Healthy Environment (R2HE) Coalition acted as a non-governmental “super-network” that persuaded and pressured state governments to recognize a new human right to a clean, healthy and sustainable environment at the United Nations.

Speaker

Andrea Schapper is a Professor in International Politics at the University of Stirling. She currently works on an RSE-funded personal research fellowship project called “SuperSustainable” that examines how new forms of networked non-governmental actors, so-called “super-networks”, bring human rights and justice concerns into international negotiations to make environmental policies more sustainable.

Attend on campus or online
